Viewers can expect a new addition to the popular AMC network as they just announced on Wednesday September 9, that it ordered a new series, Preacher. Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher is a popular comic book series that made its debut in the mid 90s and was published until the year 2000.
Critics hailed the comic book series as:
“Just about the best thing to come along since comics started finding their way into books.”—The Washington Post
“It will restore your faith. In comics.”—The New York Daily News.
Infused with dark comedy, supernatural elements and great adventures, viewers and readers of the comic book series can expect to follow the story of Jesse Custer, the Preacher (Dominic Cooper, “Agent Carter”) and his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (played by Ruth Negga, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, played by Joseph Gilgun (“This is England”). Their quest is to find God.
Development for television production team includes: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). AMC was very impressed with the pilot episode and viewers can expect to see a premiere of the 10 one hour episode series in mid 2016.
Seth Catlin states: “Couldn’t be more happy with Sony/AMC’s decision to bring Garth’s amazing ‘Preacher’ to television. Can’t wait to spend some quality time with vampires, psychopaths, rednecks and God.”
