It’s hard to believe it has been forty years since the release of Rocky Horror Picture Show. When dressing up in costume and throwing fruit at the stage during the midnight showing was the thing to do on Saturday night. Forty years later, it’s still what many fans of the cult classic do on a Saturday night.
On Saturday, September 26, HBO will be screening a midnight viewing of Rocky Horror Picture Show on its main channel. Starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meat Loaf, Rocky Horror Picture Show is a musical comedy horror that debuted in 1975. With Tim Curry plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter who is a transvestite who plays host to a newly engaged couple, Brad and Janet (played by Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon), whose car breaks down and they seek shelter for the night. While staying at the mansion they discover strange and unusual turn of events among themselves and its occupants.
Hit songs from the rock musical include, Sweet Transvestite, Touch-A, Touch-A Touch Me and The Time Warp. With Halloween just around the corner, this is the perfect time for HBO to be celebrating its 40th Anniversary.
