A Preacher, Vampire and a Hit Woman (Rewritten)

By Renee Lishka

Walk into AMC to bring a comic book series to our television screens. With the comic book series, The Walking Dead becoming a television phenomenon, AMC is adding another comic book franchise to its channel. Beginning in 2016, AMC will be airing an adaptation of The Preacher, a comic book series published in the 90s until 2000. Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, the comic book series takes us to the darkest and deepset depths of  what happens when a preacher realizes he has the voice of God as his most powerful weapon. What else can a preacher do with the voice of God except smite all of thine enemies with it?

The Preacher is about Jesse Custer, a preacher with a dark past, who is on a quest with the love of his life (and hit man), Tulip O’Hare, to find God. On his journey he meets a vampire named Cassidy and a peculiar character referred to as “Arse Face”. This dark, grizzly and, at times, humurous comic book series will come to life next year by the talent of Dominic Cooper, “Agent Carter”, Ruth Negga from “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and Joseph Gilgun from “This Is England”. Dominic_cooper

Development for television production team includes: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). AMC was very impressed with the pilot episode and viewers can expect to see a premiere of 10 one hour episode series in mid 2016.

“Couldn’t be more happy with Sony/AMC’s decision to bring Garth’s amazing ‘Preacher’ to television.”

After finishing book one of the 90s comic book series, I look forward to seeing how Dominic Cooper will dominate our television as Jesse Custer, The Preacher.
